The Tinui and Castlepoint Community Trust

What is the Trust?
THE TINUI AND CASTLEPOINT COMMUNITY TRUST (the Trust) was formed in 2014 after the original trust serving the area and the Uriti area (The Tinui, Castlepoint and Uriti Trust) was wound up.  Its geographical area is basically, but not exclusively, the catchment area of the Tinui School.  The Trust owns a house in Black Hill Road, the Craft Shop, the General Store and the paddock behind the Picnic area all in Tinui Village.   It also leases the old Tinui Post Office from Chorus.
The brief of what the Trust can assist with is very broad and includes health, education, cultural, heritage, community facilities and welfare i.e. just about anything with a community benefit can be considered.
The Trust is funded by donations from the community and by grants for projects that fit the criteria of various funding bodies.  Funding is also obtained from the rental of the Trust's land and buildings.
Projects in Progress
The major project being undertaken currently is turning the Old Tinui Post Office into a museum to house and display memorabilia of our local history, with an area devoted to Anzac history as Tinui was the first place in the world to hold an Anzac service in 1916.
